and the GOLD medal goes to....
My good friend Jana and I were discussing how mundane and unimportant our lives feel when we watch the Olympics. We will never win a gold for anything. That is when the thought occurred to us that we should win the gold. Us Moms deserve to be awarded for the things that we do. Between diaper changes, sandwich making, bed time rituals, cookie making, dress sewing, booboo healing, we all have a talent that we are good at. I want all of you who read this to think of something that you deserve a gold medal for. I for one think that I should get one for duel diaper change. Now when you think that you can do make it sound amazing.
Example:
Look at Megan her body was made for this. The way her long fingers take a hold of one child to hold her in place while not loosing concentration's on the other child. Her hips wide enough to put both children securely in front of her. Her ability to unsnap a diaper without them even noticing is unreal. And the wiping motion, the speed, the accuracy. We have never seen anything like it before. Her form is just amazing. All the other women in her heat just seem like armatures next to her. The grace in the way she moves. It really is outstanding.
(announcer is now SHOUTING)Now that is a diaper change...and the gold goes to MEEEGAAAN SNNNOOOOW it is a new world record in duel diaper change. This is amazing. UNBELIEVABLE...how does she do it.
So ladies when you leave comments today I want you to leave your great ability whether it is large or small. In our own right we all deserve a gold medal. Each of us has something to offer this world that is unique to you. I see people in my life that truly have talent that will go unrecognized to the outside world but to me you deserve a gold medal. I could give a million other gold medal to all of you. I just hope after you read this you will take the time to hand yourself one. I LOVE YOU!

My gold metal: Consistent use of time-out. It helps me yell less.
Grocery store checkouts are a dangerous place for any mom, especially at the end of the grocery shopping competition when patience and endurance are beginning to fade. Laura Shannon does such a good job of not buckling under the pressure. Here she goes. Now watch this form…
She’s got a crying 18mos old trying to climb out of the cart, but this doesn’t distract her. She’s got five items in one hand and getting them onto the conveyer belt. Oh, look she just caught her 3 yr old before he bolted for the door. Now check this out, her signature move. She is holding the 3 yr old over her shoulder with one arm while he kicks and screams, loading groceries with the other one. She catches the 18mos old before she tips over and out of the cart AND gets her pacifier before it hits the floor. But wait, she just broke up a fight between the 7 and 5 year old. Wow, did I mention she is less than a month from adding number 5? Here it goes she is smiling at the clerk and paying for her purchase. She is even letting her 5 year old click the OK button…trust, right there! I can only spot a light glisten of sweat on her forehead and one bead running down the back of her neck…
Now here is the truly impressive part, none of the kids managed to sneak a pack of gum into the cart. And the grocery store total for the family of 6…$71.89!!! FOR THE WHOLE WEEK!!!! AMAZING!!! FRUITS, VEGETABLES, CEREAL, WHOLE WHEAT and NO COOKIES, WOW PEOPLE!!!
Thanks Megan, that was really fun!
doing deeds for the thanks or recognition of man is one of the fundamental principles of the gospel.... oh wait no its the other way around....j/k
HA HA I LOVE IT!!!!
You are hillarious, Megan! I love your post - It has been the hilight of my day. I'll have to think about my gold medal and get back to you (there's SO MANY to choose from)! Ha, ha, ha...
I just love you!!! Do I get one for best cheering on of cousin?
After being part of the phone conversation I can't think of what I should medal in. Maybe my keen ability to know exactly what my kids are doing when I cannot even see them (eyes in the back of my head kind of thing!) That was a fun conversation with you. Still up for a girl's day?
for making yummy dinners!
Love this post Megan! I think your creativity would take another gold!
You are so funny Megan, I must say that I had late potty trainers and had 3 kids in diapers for an entire year so I might be in medal contention for the gold too! We should get together and have a diaper changing race!
That was a gold medal post...HILARIOUS. I laughed so hard cause you know I can relate!
I would probably only take a bronze compared to you and my amazing sis, Laura. You guys are unbeatable and certainly make your country of fellow moms proud!
