ROCKET MAN

Little did I know just how much Fun this was going to be.
Jeron and JJ made this rocket together.
On the day of the rocket launch Jeron could not go:(
I felt bad because he really missed out and I know he was bummed.
I kind of went out of protest.
and turned out it was a blast (pun intended)

Here the kids are all getting instructions from this sweet man who does this as a hobbie now.

JJ is soaking in all the information
So serious
Setting his Rocket up on the launch pad
JJ wasn't the first group to go but he was in the second Launch.
We had seen a few go before and it was incredible to watch.
The big ones seemed pretty cool and I kind of felt bad I was so cheap.
We got JJ the most inexpensive one but the instructor recommended it.
The big ones would shoot up but really didn't go all that high.
Then JJ's launches and it goes up so high, higher than anyone's yet...

Then it gets a spur in its side and decides to go sideways at the speed of sound
(okay maybe not that fast but FAST)
It lands somewhere east of the school.
JJ and I set out to find the rocket.
We looked just past the portables on the east side
no rocket
We looked in the school parking lot
no rocket
we looked on the street
still no rocket
Then I looked by a garbage can at a house across the street.
I saw some orange so we went to check it out.
We found the rocket in tact but the house was not.
His rocket was still going so fast it hit the house and cracked the siding.
OOPS

Holy cow that rocket went far.
Elsie, Ellie and Emma got to watch the rocket launch which was a lot of fun.
JJ really wanted to let Elsie and Ellie launch the rocket.
(Emma had to go back to class)
So on JJ's second launch Ellie helped him out.
Hers went straight up in the air and straight back down.
Way to go Ellie
Elsie was just not having it because she was scared of them.
Can't say I blame her.
Those things are crazy.
One went sideways straight at the crowd.
It then turned down and stuck in the ground like a dart about 3 inches in.
It was really cool to watch but a little dangerous as well.
Elsie has self preservation in mind at all times.
She hid under the playground for most of it.

On JJ's third launch it went up and then I swear I saw it burst.
My friend also thought she saw the same thing.
We seriously could not find it.
JJ looked everywhere.
FInally it was time to go in.
I told him I would go to the street behind the school and see if I could see anything.
It was great.  I drove down the street to where I thought we might find it.
I was stressed thinking I would have to search through the field.
I found it right in the gutter.
and it was destroyed.
So yes, we did see it burst just not the way we thought.
It was seriously a really fun day.
If your school does this you should go and watch.
It truly is a blast.

What a good big brother

Ellie has not mastered the art of pedaling yet.
This has posed a problem for bike riding to school.
JJ came up with a plan since he really disliked walking home.
He hooked up the bike trailer to his bike.
This has been awesome.
Plus it warms the cockles of mine and Jeron's heart when we see him be such a good brother

Game Day

Game day around our house has always been, well, interesting.
Everyone always says "What?  The kids are all Utah fans?  Jeron didn't get one?"
and I of course have an answer for this.

I try harder.

Jeron calls it brainwashing.
Yes people, I sit my kids in front of countless movies, books, and songs and place little tidbits of information about UTAH so that my kids "believe" the like the UTES!

PUUULEEEASE

I simply make it more fun than he does.
And that isn't really hard considering that most byu fans are well DULL

First off there is the sign making that I do with the kids the night before.
I've never seen Mr. byu do this.
Then there is the hair decorating for the girls.
Again never seen Jeron do this.

Then there is the awesome face painting.
Again, I have yet to see my sweet hubby run up and say "Kids lets paint cougar paws on our faces"
Forth, we get all decked out in our UTAH RED and make cool signs
Jeron hasn't taught the kids any cool signs

And last but certainly not least
Our team WINS
We get to hold up #1
while Daddy yells at the TV
I think it is clear to see my kids just have one thing that their dad is lacking
Good taste in a football team
Plus we all know its all about WINNING
UTES CRUSHED my hubbies poor little kitty kats this year
Like I said, we are just a lot more fun.

For everything there is a time and a season

This year I made a HUGE mistake.
I totally forgot to sign Elsie up for preschool.
I have felt really bad about this
:
:
:
UNTIL
:
:
:
I realized that FINALLY after 7 long years
I can hang out with my BFF Jana again.
Today was our first official date.
It was so good to just talk with her and not have to rush anywhere.
We both are at a point where we have one child home and the rest in ALL day school.
Our husbands have been going to lunch all of these years and we have been so jealous.
Ha, no longer do we have to be jealous of them.
We too, can have lunch dates.  WAHOO!!!
This is our season.
And while it will be only for 9 sweet months I'll take what I can get.
Our first trip out was to Gardner Village and to our surprise the Witches were already out.

 Elsie loved the witches.
She is at such a fun age for this kind of stuff.
She was a bit bossy and wouldn't let Jana our I shop
We finally just let her lead us around Gardner Village.
We were fine though, because we were there for the company.
It was so nice to just talk again.

Practically Perfect in Every Way

I have been wanting to go to a musical for such a long time.
I love the theater.
Maybe it is in my blood, whatever it is I love it.
When I was driving down the freeway and saw the billboard for Mary Poppins I knew we had to go.
I debated back and forth about who to take and finally decided on just Emma and I.
Emma doesn't really know Mary Poppins.
She has seen the movie once and she was only a little girl.
So on the way there I just gave her a brief summary.
Once we finally parked the car we had 15 minutes to grab a bite to eat.
We ran to Gandolfo's which is close to the theater.
We inhaled our food and made it to Capital Theater just in time.
Emma was cute, she kept asking "how much more time do we have?"
She wanted to make sure we made it in time for the show.
Emma was so cute and chill about all the craziness.
Hmmm, she must be use to me being her mom.
Emma's very first musical
A view from our seats
(and yes his head was HUGE)
My favorite Emma
So the play was AMAZING!!!
I loved looking over at Emma and seeing the excitement in her eyes.
She loved every minute.  (even Feed the Birds)
During intermission I showed her around the theater and she was in awe.
She thought we had better seats than just about anyone.
We were up in the mezzanine so maybe not but I love that she thought that.
She couldn't get over that Mary Poppins flew out into the crowd, Bert walked on the ceiling,
and Mary Poppins pulled huge things out of her bag?!?
The magic of the theater is unreal.
I will have to say for a first time show Mary Poppins was
"Practically Perfect in Every way"
A real must see.
Emma and I couldn't stop talking about it the whole way home.
Such a fun date with my favorite little miss Emma

Beauty and the Beast Spring 2012 here we come!

9-10-11 Lucky 13

Jeron and I met graduation night
We went on a date 6 months later
6 months after that we both went on a trip to bear lake with mutual friends.
.
.
.
We kissed at Bear Lake
.
.
.
The rest is history

I was lucky enough to find my soul mate all those years ago.
We have made it through a LOT
Through our trials we have grown closer together.
He is honestly my best friend.
He is the one that makes me get butterflies...still after 13 years
I love him with all of my heart
He is my everything
We can laugh together, cry together, fight together...there isn't much we don't do together
:
:
:
except like the same football team ;-)
:
:
:
I feel blessed to have these years with him.
Each year is better than the last.
He is a wonderful man
and lucky for me he is mine.
This year we wanted to get away again.
We loved our trip to DC last year but the funds just weren't there for another "BIG" trip,
so we headed to Park City for a LONG get-away.
It almost seemed like it wasn't going to happen.
but
My brother David, Jan & Gene, and my cute neighbors saved the day.
We spent 4 nights, 5 days in Park City just chillin' and taking in the beauty of the mountains.
It was nice to just be the two of us.
I have to add how lucky I am...

Jeron got a call from his brother asking him to go to the BYU game in Texas
FREE Plane ticket
and FREE game ticket
Without even consulting me he turned this down.
I felt bad and told him he should go but he said
"There isn't anywhere I would rather be than with you on 9-10-11"
Tell me that I am not lucky
Because I am!

Not to many men would have done that.
even if he is a punk
I am glad he made that sweet decision because we had a great time.
Plus our hotel had two big screen TV's so we were able to both watch our teams on Saturday
.
.
.
...get beat :(
.
.
.
But we almost thought we might not get to watch our games,
because we got stuck at Red Pine Lodge at the Canyons.
We rode the gondola up to the lodge.
One of the workers told us not to ride the chair lift up higher because it would be to hard in my flip flops.
He sent on a dinky trail.  (he obviously doesn't know that I live in these shoes, but whatev)
Once we were done with the trail we both wanted more.
So against that mans better judgement we headed up further on the chair lift
We had just started going and a HUGE bolt of lightening struck.
Can I just tell you that is the LAST place I would want to be in a lightening storm.
Then to make things more interesting it started to rain.
Now I am nervous because he said I shouldn't go up there in flip flops... with NO RAIN
We started to head down the mountain in the pouring rain.
It was actually a very easy trail even in the rain.
Plus, I love the rain (Jeron not so much)
I always knew I would get him to walk in the rain with me.  hehehehe
We get back down to the Red Pine Lodge to go on the Gondola and it is closed due to lightening.
Stuck with 100+ stinky hikers, and bikers in the lodge was interesting to say the least,
but we were worried we would miss the game(s).
after an hour the lightening finally stopped and we made it back just in time for the game(s)
Kind of wish we had missed the game(s)

While in PC we ate way to much, but isn't that part of the fun of going away.

We did a lot of sight seeing on Main Street.
We went to Park Silly (which I love)
We hung out there for almost 4 hours.
and I finally found me some Peacock earrings
(which I have been searching for)
We just had a very chillaxe time.
We loved every minute.
I am so glad that we had such a great time.
I can't wait until next year.
I am hoping a big trip is in the cards  Hmmmm Hawaii would be nice.
Love you Jeron
Happy Anniversary
Here's to lucky 13
(Jeron wonders why I keep calling it that...Hopefully it will be lucky if I call it lucky)

Labor Day Weekend

What do you do when you have a long weekend?
Go to the cabin silly.
After baby Mac's blessing we headed up to the cabin.
Mama and Papa brought all the fixin's for hot dogs.
We ate dinner by the fire and roasted marshmallows.
I don't think it gets better than that.
Daddy snuggled with his Boo.
Awesome dad roasting two at a time.
What am I ever going to do with Emma
I am worried she is going to do "pretty girl" for her school picture.
Loving my single lady bugs
These poor kids didn't get enough sleep and this made for a LONG day on Monday.
Ellie and Elsie were so cranky, which meant mom was pretty cranky also.
We ate pancakes with SYRUP
Thanks to Mama and Papa who ran down the canyon because I forgot it.
(which of course I remembered in the wee hours of morning)
plus, they bought a griddle.
We played games and waited, and waited, and waited for the family party to start.
Ended up the party was three hours after we thought so all that waiting was for nothing.
We had left things undone at home so we had to leave when it was time to start.
We were able to get the kids to shuck the corn before we had to leave.
Finally they acted good and were happy to help.
I knew there were good kids in there.
We got to see everyone before we left but we had to get home.
We had a great time at the cabin.
Emma and JJ got to stay and hang out.  JJ finally got to go hiking and Emma got to play with Kate.
