hApPy hAlloWeEn

Our kiddo's looking so cute before the big night.

Elsie HATED her costume. This is actually the next day. She would not smile for anything with that on. This is the first time that one of my kids didn't like their costume. It was interesting.

She was so excited to be an East High Cheerleader. At first she was a UTAH cheerleader until she realized that the colors were the same as HSM and that totally won out. Not that I blame her. She only did one street and came home and said "Do you think that is enough for the Halloween Witch?" This made me laugh (Halloween Witch ask me...long story)

Ellie liked her Dorothy costume. It wasn't until the Red slippers were on her feet that she LOVED it. Thank goodness one of my friends left them here by accident. (forgive me for letting her wear them...please hehehe:) She loved this whole candy business. In fact Jeron asked if he could hold her candy for her while she was walking and she got awful mad at him.

This is JJ's second year as a Vampire. He very much likes this look. He took off this year and went on his own. Next year we will have to get some fella's to go with him. He did a good job, and was excited to sort his candy when he got home. I use to do that. I love watching him getting older and seeing how much he is like me. One major difference, I was the last one in. I never stopped until all the lights on the street where out...and even then I would do a couple more. My kids are good just getting enough. silly!

David informed me thatI dress up like this every other year. With the day I had it was easy and fast...works in a pinch, and lets face it, it is my favorite;)

David was the first to arrive.

How great are they? Emma! It is Hannah Montana and her Dad!

Mama & Papa with the kids

Last but not least Grandma and Grandpa...and with costumes like that you can come anytime.

The kids love this one

If you are unwilling to think up your own costume one will be provided for you.

Love the costumes. Ellie didn't even recogonize Grandpa

Silly Papa

Love the look!

I need to remember one thing. No matter what you don't accomplish on Halloween I can not ruin it for the kids. I had all these great plans of making a Haunted House cake, cookies, and Donuts. There was a snag in my day and these things did not happen. I spent a good part of the day thinking about how much I ruined Halloween for them. As soon as they were dressed and ready to go I realized that I did not ruin anything for them. They were so excited to go get candy and just have fun. They didn't want to eat dinner until they got back. It was fun to see them so excited even with out all of the hullabaloo that I had planned. Next year I will take a chill pill, relax and enjoy the ride.

Carving Pumpkins

We have a lot of work ahead of us!

Getting all the guts scooped out is hard!

Look at that determination.

Almost done, keep going.

The finished product.

We call Elsie "Boo" so Jeron had me make her a "BOO" pumpkin.

Emma decided this year to not use a pattern and make her own. She drew out a picture of what she wanted and then set to work. I think she did a great job.

Ellie picked out this cute bat. It was really the only sweet one out of all the pictures. I think it totally fits her.

JJ is getting to be a really great carver. He was determined to do it all himself this time. He did really good. Especially considering that it is his first time. The witches head fell off at one point but be secured it back on. It turned out wonderful.

Look how fun they look all lit up.

Jeron is by far the best carver in our home. He always does a fantabulous job.

This is my treat bowl. I put lights inside it and it illuminates the word treat. Pretty Cool

We love to carve pumpkins. The mess is fun to play in. The kids look like pumpkins after and we love it. Pumpkin seeds are everywhere. The kids get to be creative and it is fun to see their minds at work.

lOve tHis giRl

I think out of all my kids Elsie has the cheeks that I want to eat.

I just love this little girl. She is such a sweetheart. She is always so happy to see me It is the best feeling in the world when your baby looks at you and you know that they LOVE you. You are everything to them. This time doesn't last long. Soon she will start to want others, ignore me, and realize that there is more to life then just Mommy. So for right now I am loving it completely.

eLliE's hAlloWeeN pArTy

I know this may sound weird but today I asked Ellie if she wanted to be a scary witch or a nice witch. In her own way she let me know that she wanted to be a scary witch. Jeron looked at me with his eyebrows raised when I said this. I even ratted her hair and thought she would not like this because she is such a girly girl. She looked in the mirror and got the biggest smile. I wanted to make sure this is what she wanted so I started combing her hair out and she said "no no no" and grabbed the comb. I am sure she wanted to look scary.

I still think she looks to sweet to be scary. But she loved it. Especially the spider in her hair.

Elsie and Willy

This weekend we dog sat for Jeron's brother. Here is the only picture we got. Willy took a real liking to Elsie. I think it was her body heat!?! Who knows?

Seriously, I have no pictures with Elsie and this is why. I always look so dang tired. Oh, maybe because I am.

pAck'S pUmpKin pAtCh

We go to Pack's every year and this year we almost strayed from tradition but Jeron rained me in and we stayed on course. The kids love it here so why mess with a good thing. Here are some cute pics of our kids having a great time.

faRmiNgtOn cAnYon...aNd thE fiSh

Megan: "Hey kids, do you want to go on a drive up Farmington Canyon?"
Kids: "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
Megan: "Hey Hon does that sound okay?"
Jeron: "Sounds good!"
Megan: "Okay after we eat and clean up we will go."
After about an hour the kids are playing video games and Jeron is straightening up.
Megan: "Okay let's go."
nothing happens
Megan: "Okay let's go."
still nothing
Megan: "OKAY, LET"S GO!"
Emma goes to the car
Ellie: excited "K K K K K"
JJ: half paying attention..."Where?"
Megan: Irritated now "Farmington Canyon"
JJ: "Can I stay home?"
Mom: "NO"
JJ: "Whhhhy?"
Mom: now I am yelling "BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO GO AND HAVE FUN AS A FAMILY! GET IN THE FREAKIN CAR NOW!!!!"
JJ: "I don't want tooooooooooooooo."
Mom: "NOOOOOOOOOOOW"
JJ: pouts all the way to the car.
We are heading up the canyon and I am saying how pretty the trees are, and this is my kids.
Emma: "Are we going to ever get out?"
JJ: "Dad don't kill us."
Ellie: starting to fall asleep.
Mom: "ELLIE WAKE UP!ELLIE WAKE UP!ELLIE WAKE UP!"
Emma: "This is boring are we ever going to stop?"
This went on until we stopped. Then we got out and the kids played around and loved everything. They loved the snow, they loved the creek, they loved the rocks. Emma had a bit of a melt down because I looked away while she was jump roping to step off a rock. That was it for her. She would not smile the rest of the time. We then got into the car and headed down. Now remember the way it started I don't want to go. Well it ended that way as well. It is no wonder we never do anything. The beginning and end are a joke. I like the middle though. I think JJ already acts like a teenager. He will never go with us when he really is one. I didn't know that it started so young. Emma is sick so her whining made sense, but I still don't like it. I am glad that Ellie is always a little ray of sunshine. She just seems to have a positive attitude about things. I hope that never changes.

I promised Emma that we would stop at the ponds on the way down. Jeron tried to talk me out of it, but in the end he turned up the road. When we got there JJ found a trail that lead to the creek. We all followed him over. There was a man that was talking to JJ when I approached. He had a bucket of fish, and told us in broken English that he "caught with bare hands...I show." Gesturing to JJ. JJ thought that was a cool idea so they head off into the creek as I watch from the side. Jeron of course had to go with them.

The man caught a fish in about one minute. Sure enough he was using his hands. Jeron and JJ scouted out a good spot and tried to get one. JJ was a little hesitant so the fish got away. Then I told them to try this spot by me. They ignored me, what do I know I am just a girl. After about 15 minutes later they finally tried my spot. And what do you know...fish!

Jeron found one again and let JJ come and get it. JJ didn't want to let this one pass him by so when he grabbed it he stuck his finger in its gills. He caught it but it flipped out of his hands. Jeron quickly saved the day and caught it for him.

Way to go my rough and tough mountain men. We would never starve with these two around. How many of you can catch a fish with your bare hands? Pretty awesome if I do say so myself.
This is why you push through the whining and fruastrating moments. Once you get going that is when you get to see your kids truly enjoy themselves.
