The Heimlich really works
The other night we sat down for a nice family dinner. I made rolls, broccoli cheese soup, and cinnamon rolls for dessert. Ellie started taking bites of her roll and not swallowing, taking drinks, and more bites of the roll. The roll started turning into putty. It filled her whole mouth and I knew she was going to choke if I didn't get it out. Ellie has the jaws of life. She has the most wicked teeth in the world. So this stopped me from putting my finger in. I knew it would become a jumbled mess. So I kept asking her to give it to me. She thought this was funny so she kept eating. Sure enough she took a breath in and down it went. NO air. I have had my kids choke on things before, but never has it been NO air. I immediately went into action turned her upside down and gave her 2 solid thrust between her shoulder blades. It went flying onto the table. (Stopping JJ from eating because "Sick, That was so gross I can't eat now. Thanks Mom!" Like this was my fault) I was so excited that I turned to Jeron and said "I just did the Heimlich." I started bawling after that. I couldn't control myself for about 3 minutes. Emma's face was priceless. She just looked at me like I had maybe just gone crazy. To make a long story short, It worked but never do I want to have to do that again. Ever!

That is soo scary! I can't believe that. I would have done the same thing . . . cried! Oh man oh man. I'm glad you knew the heimlich! And emily wants to be added so she can look at your blog. It's her gmail account!
I am just cracking up like you are now over this whole situation. I am totally picturing every child's face and it is funny...NOW of course. Anyway, I love you too. Thanks so much for the sweet comment. You are heaven sent! I couldn't ask for a better next door neighbor. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
That is so scary, but it sounds just like Jackson. Luckily he always manages to get it down. Your family is just so cute! I can't wait till we can see you guys again.
On my 13th birthday my father and step mother took me to Disney World... It took us almost an hour to get food, we were all so hungry; not to mention for a hot dog and drink it was $20. I was STARVING so I ate mine as fast as I could. Next thing I know I can't breathe, swallow, and can't talk. Thank God my step mother looked at me right about the time I was turning blue in the face and she ran over and did the heimlich on me. Needless to say, it spit across the table and all over everyones food- so we all lost our appeitite. Scary times, but yes it does in fact work!! Glad you acted fast!
