Mini Photo Shoot with Miss Ellie

I don't have a ton of free time lately so I have been fitting mini photo shoots in with my kids. I take them to my favorite spot and spend about 15-20 minutes taking pics. It is a lot of fun for me, and not to much time for them. We actually headed over there after church one day so we were already dressed and ready to go. I maybe did spend a few extra minutes getting Ellie ready that day.

Most people now days when they say I have a cabin, you can pretty much plan on a "Cabin" bigger than my house with all the latest electronics, games, and fun. When I talk about my Cabin, I mean just that... it is a cabin. I often tell people it is just a step up from a tent. I LOVE my cabin. It has been in my family since before I was born. It is one of my favorite places in the world.

So while Jeron was gone on a golf get away with his family, I took the kids up to our cabin for a little retreat of our own. We left a little late Thursday evening. We got up to the cabin around 8pm. Knowing it was just me and the kids I decided we would not roast marshmallows. JJ was pretty bummed about this. I think he wanted to play with the fire more than anything. That night we played games and stayed up way too late. Emma thought she saw a man at the door and freaked herself out. Then JJ said he saw him as well. Jeron was not with me so I told them that no one was there and to quit freaking me out. Holy cow was I freaked out.




The next day we went walking around the cabin enjoying the beauty of it all. We played in the creek. I was surprised that Elsie loved it. She sat right in it and splashed away. Ellie watched everything that JJ and Emma did and tried to imitate them. I then took Elsie and got her all dolled up and did a mini photo shoot of her. The lighting was off but she looked so stinken cute. We went back cleaned up and headed home. It is always a lot of fun at the cabin. There is no TV, phones, or anything. You just relax and enjoy each others company.

I must admit that it was a hard trip with no other adult present. It was nice but I was pretty glad to be packing up to head home. I just don't have enough arms for it all anymore.

Memorial Day

Last year we didn't really do anything for Memorial Day. I have felt bad about the things we missed due to bed rest and baby in NICU. I had hoped that we could change things around this year. unfortunately I got sick! Okay really sick...some think swine flu. Needless to say nothing to exciting happened. We did go to my parents to see baby birds, then to The Garden Park Ward House to take pictures, and then to Jeron's moms for dinner. It was a good day but sorry the sick Mom had to upset better plans.

I always make my kids a picture to put up in their room. Well since I finally got Elsie's room turned into her room(it was my scrapbook, sewing, hording room before.)I decided to paint her a picture. Believe me I am not an artist, it is simply child like art. Maren (my sister) wanted to see it so I told her I would take a picture and post it for her.

Camera Crazy

So my parents bought me, or as my Mom would like me to say "bought Jeron and I a new camera" for Christmas. I was so excited that I couldn't see straight. I have always loved photography. I remember when I was little I thought my dad had the coolest camera and someday I would like to have one like it. Well...I do! In fact I think mine is cooler. (I can brag I didn't buy it.) Anyway when I got the camera I also got free classes with it. So every Saturday me and my good friend Shannon have been going. I love what I am learning and hopefully someday I will be able to apply it all. Here are some shots that I have taken. Remember that I am new at this...

With a little help from photoshop this is my favorite of Ellie. I love her face.

I LOVE this one of Emma but I will have to say that I wish I knew better how to touch up because those bangs need to be cut on the side.

This is one of my favorites. I love the "golden sunlight" but I know this is an acquired taste.

Thanks to my sister and bro-in-law I also got photoshop so I can do some fun things with that. I am an IDIOT when it comes to photoshop but I am learning and love the things that Shannon and Maren have tried to teach me. I can't wait for this to be something that I am really good at. Wish me luck.

New Family Pictures

I am not just loving these pictures as much as I have before. Don't get me wrong they are good...they are just not spectacular like Hailey Miller usually does. It is hard to spend that kind of $$$ and not just love them. I will have to find me a new Hailey to do my pictures. Yes Mrs. Hailey Sant I am talking about you. Will you do family pictures?

One of my sweet friends is starting to get into photography. She took some pictures of Elsie and this is just a taste of the yummy pictures that she took. They are so good. I can't believe she is just starting. If anyone would like to get more info let me know. I think she does wonderful!
