Darn those bees

This morning Ellie would not walk on her foot.  And it was swollen.  All I could think is "Oh no, here we go again."  We put ice on it and I watched it.  Then I remembered that she had been stung by a bee the day before.  We were scouting out a place for Michael to propose to Brynn.  I was being lazy because I had a breast infection...again.  I told Ellie she could walk in the grass without shoes and sure enough she got stung. It was awful.  Poor bug.  This bee really did a number on her.  She would not put any weight on her foot.

And the drugs wore her out.

Poor little bean.
We sure hate those darn bees.

unwanted guests

My moms siblings and their spouses were all going out to dinner.  They had decided to go to the Mandarin .  I heard through the grapevine that my cousin was also going. Seeing that I love the Mandarin and I would love to hang out with Carl, and the rest of them I thought it sounded great.   I was quickly informed that I was not wanted, of course in a much more subtle way...hmmmm.  Being one who really doesn't care...hahahaha, I decided to just go instead.  My mom gave me her blessing so I was good as gold.  Michael and Brynn came was well.  We sat on our end of the table as the "unwanted guests."  I was informed that I was not to sit by my Uncle Carl, so I didn't.  I did think about it though.  I had fun with my parents, my baby brother, and my soon to be sister.  And really the three of us had a blast being the "unwanted guests".  I think even the aunts and uncles were surprised at how much we have grown up. hehehehehe.  It pays off to not have to be the center of attention all the time.  We might even get invited next time.  Who am i kidding.  Jeron on the other hand wasn't having anything to do with being an unwanted guest so he stayed home with the kids...even Emry.  It was a very nice break.  Thanks hon.

I sure love this kid, mustache and all.
Brynn, he is a keeper that one.
The real reason I went though was for the Mandarin.  It was delish.

Beautiful night for a wedding

There is something so peaceful about Temple Square. My cousin and his now wife got married and we had the opportunity to go to the reception. We were just going to take the babe out but Elsie go nervous staying home with JJ and Emma (this is a new thing since the broken leg) I was actually good with it because she really had been so cooped up.  Plus, Uncle Carl would be there and she loves to see him.  It was a bit tricky gettting her to the reception because there was no wheelchair access but my big strong man carried her and the wheelchair right  on up those stairs.

The reception was beautiful.  The bride was stunning.  My cousin looked so happy.  The only strange part for me was when the band played Born to be Wild.  It was an awkward song given the location. haha.

Doesn't this just look like the face of one happy girl.

As we were walking back to the car we the sun was just starting to set.  The flowers on Temple Square looked splendid.  I had to stop and get pics of my little ladies with the beautiful flowers.

The sunset and the temple were amazing.  I wish I had had my nice camera.

One of the most beautiful places in the world.

Making Lemonaide or forts in this case

Boo is confined to the house because it is too blasted hot outside to handle wearing a cast and not being able to walk.  That means only one thing...FORT time.  My kids have not learned the art of fort making.  In all my years as a mother it has astonished me that they don't do this.  I loved to do this as a kids.  I was about to put all the blankets away when I saw the card table up. My thoughts immediately went back to the good ole days of fort building and  I knew this meant we had to make a fort.

They were not the best helpers but in the end they loved the fort.  They watched movies and colored in it all day long.  It really was a perfect summer day..

Hard Cast = Relief

When your day starts off this good you know its going to be a good one.
We headed into the office with Miss Elsie in this horrible contraption.  The dreaded soft cast.  Seriously, there isn't a worse sentence for a 4-year-old and her mother for that matter.  It was an interesting week to say the least.  A lot of movies and tears later we are finally here for the HARD cast. They took her in for an x-ray and then we doped her up in the waiting room (Lortab people, chill out)Which proved to be a brilliant move on our parts.  More on that in a minute.  She was very nervous and so was her mommy.

I could see the fear welling up in her eyes when they started talking about splinting the leg.  I asked her what she was thinking.  "Mommy, I don't want them to split my leg."  Poor little pooky was worried about the splitting her leg.  I felt horrible and glad that I asked her.  After we cleared up the minor detail of her not hearing the "N" in the word life was much better.  The process was pretty easy, but I will say that I was glad when it was over.  They were VERY impressed with how well she handled the pain.  That is when I explained the child was doped up.  They were very impressed with our decision to drug our child.  They said it was night and day difference in how she acted.
As you can see she is one happy cookie with her new PURPLE cast.  Yes, I was shocked it wasn't pink also.
She is still non-weight bearing but there is such a relief in knowing this cast wont hurt with all the bumps and bangs that are bound to happen.  It was good to be home with her leg all wrapped up safe.  Mommy and Boo are just a bit happier now.
I told you this day started out good, and ended just the same.  I was able to have a special moment with my special angel.  Emma just happened to think it was special too.  Thanks for the pic Ems

Love me a good day.

Special Time

We have a fun little surprise.  Every once in a while Grandpa Gene stops in on his way home from Ogden.  The kids love to see him even if it is only for a little bit.  Today he got down on the floor with Emry and played with her.  The sunlight was perfect and I couldn't resist taking a picture of him with her.   Her face says it all.  She loves her grandpa.

Too much time on our hands.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  I would say they are right.  This picture sums up all that this poor chicka is experiencing right now.  I couldn't resist snapping this picture.  It breaks my heart what she is having to go through.  Her sweet little mind can't quite understand what is happening to her.
Grandma Jan brought Elsie some puppets to make.  Elsie was nice and shared with Ellie.  We made these cute puppets.  Then we spent some time playing with them.  Apparently I have a British accent when I play with puppets.  It is hilarious and I can't help but do it.

There is nothing better than having a baby.  I love to spend my time snuggling with her.  She is so sleepy because of her jaundice and it is the best excuse to just hold her.  She just loves her mommy and I love and adore her.

Scout Camp

Today JJ left on his very first week long scout camp.  It was kind of weird dropping him off and saying see you in a week.  He was excited and nervous.  He is an excellent camper so I knew I didn't need to worry there.  I hope he has a great time.  See ya in a week bud!

Meet Tibia

Uncle David and Kassie came by today to bring Elsie a little present. Did I say Little? Well, little may not be the right choice. This teddy bear is bigger than me.Tibia came to hang out with Elsie because like Elsie she has a broken leg.  Elsie named this larger than life teddy bear Tibia.  I think it was such a sweet thing that Uncle David did for her.
Elsie has acutally been showered in gifts.  So many friends and family members have given her things to pass the time.  JJ actually mentioned that he contemplated breaking something just to get all the booty she got.  She is only blessed little lady to have so many people care about her.

While David was here we lost track of Miss Ellie.  She took this time to eat so very blue candy.  I believe she enjoyed herself.
thank goodness a little shower got rid of it.  I was worried she would be blue for days and days.  She cracks me up.

Randomness

I was looking at these random pictures that we took today.  This first one reminds me to be happy. How could you look at this face and not be happy.  She represents everything that is right with the world.  So in this time of stress I am going to look at her for the strength to be happy.
Next, change my perspective.  We can still have fun and be immobile.  We watched the slowest science experiment today.  But, we also realized that we had to time to do it.  While everyone else is running from here to there we were able to watch the slow process of the water changing color.  The middle glass eventually turned green.  It was pretty cool.
Elsie can smile inspite of this hardship on her.  I often find myself having a pity party when I haven't faced anything near this hard.  I need to remind myself to be strong.  Pity is for the birds.  Look at her holding her sister and loving it.
Last...FREAK  I am getting OLD!!!
Okay so that may not be that positive but it is the truth.  Look at those tired eyes and wrinkles.
I always say I'm excited to be a grandma.  It is coming faster than I thought it would.

Shots?...who Me?!?

Of course we had an already scheduled doctors appointment for Emry today.  She is due for her 2 months shots.  Poor bug doesn't know what is about to happen to her.  She is just too darn happy.
She was just cooing and smiling.

It turns out that she is tongue tied like I had suspected.  She not only had to get shots but she also had to get her tongue clipped.  This broke my heart.  Why is it that doctors don't think babies care if they are hurting.  They sure scream like they care.
Poor little bug.  This maybe made me tear up a bit.
Jeron had a tongue tie and apparently they are genetic.
This hopefully will help her suck better giving me less breast infections.  I have had so many this time.  I feel like I have the flu at least every week.  YUCK!  I just feel bad that this is what she had to have for me to feel better.

Don't worry next time it is just shots.  Not fair, I know.

This is going to be one long summer

All this sitting around watching TV sounds nice but only when it is cold outside and there is nothing else to do. But instead it is hot and the only thing she wants to do is swim and now she can't. It is a good thing that we have a new baby, because she is cute and fun to love on.

Bored much?

Elsie is already missing the things that she normally does.  Running, swimming, walking, going to the bathroom on her own, running to her friends house, riding her bike.  It breaks my hearts every time I have to say no.  She can't bare weight on it and she is four.  GOOD LUCK!  Like I said, this is going to be a long summer.

First day of recovery

Last night was a very long night. Elsie cried almost every 30 minutes. Any time we had to move her she would scream. I could tell that this just wasn't right. I literally got no sleep and Jeron was about as rested as me. It was going to be a long day and Elsie was miserable. I felt so bad for her.  I called and could not get an appointment for her.  My dad was able to get her an appointment at PCMC Fracture clinic at 4 pm that day.  I was so relieved because I knew something wasn't right.
For breakfast she opted for a "tortilla with cheese with ketchup on it cut like a pizza."  Today she was getting whatever she wanted.  So that is what she got.
We threw the towel in.  It was just one of those days.
When we got back Elsie was greeted by a brand new ride.  Papa had arranged for a wheelchair for her.  He even made a little stand for her to put her leg up on.  Elsie was so happy to get outside.  Of all of my kids she is my most active and loves being outside.  This really is going to be tough on her.
Side note:  The doctor did confirm my suspicions .  They did not wrap her leg right and that is why she was in so much pain.  Since she has had the new soft cast it has been a night and day difference.  The doc did still ask me why I brought her in today when they said to bring her in a week.  I simply said "I knew something wasn't right."  Her answer to that..."hum"  WHATEV...
